An Opportunity to support the next Generation of Hockey talent!
At Benoni Northerns Hockey Club (BNHC), we believe that every young player deserves the chance to succeed—regardless of their financial background. The BNHC Development Fund is a proud initiative aimed at creating meaningful opportunities for talented youth from low-income households.
Launched in 2025, the Development Fund is designed to support two deserving players each year—one boy and one girl—who are in Grade 10. Each selected player enters a three-year support cycle until matriculation, with BNHC providing structured assistance to ensure they can pursue their hockey ambitions.
Each selected player receives:
Full BNHC club fees for the duration of support
An annual allowance that can be used towards:
Coaching or umpiring courses
Hockey equipment
BNHC playing kit
Provincial tour costs
To be eligible, applicants must:
Come from a low-income household (supporting documents required)
Must be in Grade 9 in the year of application.
Attend a school in the Benoni or surrounding area
Have good academic standing
Show strong hockey commitment and potential
Be willing to play for BNHC for the full 3-year support period
All applications are carefully reviewed by our Development Fund panel. Shortlisted candidates are invited to two rounds of interviews:
On-the-Field Interview – to assess hockey skills, teamwork, and potential
Off-the-Field Interview – to evaluate character, commitment, and alignment with BNHC values
This fund is more than just a sponsorship—it’s an investment in young lives. We aim to reduce barriers, build confidence, and foster long-term engagement in the sport through mentorship, training, and community.
Applications for the 2025 intake open from 1st June till 31 August 2025. Keep an eye on this page or follow our social media channels for updates.
